How to protect our file or folder from being copying and deleting ?

Welcome back to Shortlearner. In the last tutorial we taught that how to hide a folder in drive, and how to password protect a drive, now Today we will learn how to protect our files and folder from being copying and deleting.

Now a days to protect our data ,files, folders, photos  etc from copying or deleting is very important because sometimes our important things is get copied by the unwanted person so ,learn how to protect it.

Step1:  Right Click on the folder and click on properties.

Step2:  Select the security tab and then click on advance button.

Step3:  Click on change permission.

Step 4: Select the Name whose permission you want to change and click on Edit button.

Step 5: Select the permission you want to allow or deny .In my case I have deny delete and change permission. After clicking on managing permission you can check which permission is for which use.

Then click ok and then apply and close all window.

Step 6: It will display a warning message so click on yes.

Now your folder is safe it will not be copying and deleting by anyone.

Remember: The same procedure is used when you want to remove these permission.

There is a pre install software in our windows operating system, known as BitLocker comes in windows 7 or windows 8 so, by using this we can easily lock any drive and can also unlock it using that. So just follows below steps and make your drive password protected...

Step1:  Go to the control panel.

Step2: Click on category at the right of the screen and select small icon from the list.

Step3: After that click on BitLocker Data Encryption.

Step4:Click on Turn on bitLocker of the drive whom you want to lock.

Step5:check on use a password to lock a drive.

Step6: Type the password.

Step7: After that it will ask for where you want to store the recovery key .It will help you if in future you forgot the password then you can see the password in that file.Keep the file at save place so,nobody can see that or you may delete this file if you have confidence that you will remember the password.Click on save the recovery key to file.

Step 8: Click on start Encrypting.It will take few seconds to complete this process.

Note: To open the drive right click on drive and select unlock the drive and after that type  password and click ok.

Remember: To Unlocked the locked drive do the same process and click on Turn off BitLocker.

Step1:   open the system properties form control panel .

System and security-> system->sytem protection 

Step2: system restore should be “ON” of all drives.

If this is not done you are not able to recover them. 

Step3: suppose a folder “doc1” is deleted from your pc. Then you have to make a new folder and rename it “doc1” exactly the same name of deleted folder name.

 Step 4: right click on doc1 folder and goto  properties and click on previous  versions. Now you see the doc1 file is appear here  so restore it and press ok.

Step5:  a dialogbox is open “ are you sure you want to restore it” so press restore button  now a message is appear on screen “the folder is succesfully restore at the previous version”.

Step 6: when  you open  your doc1 folder you see your files are restore on the same place.

Step 1: Go to file menu  then select prepare submenu from the list.

Step2: Click on Encrypt Document.

Step3: Type the password.

Step4:  Renter your password and click ok.Now your document is password protected.

Note:  This Method  is for window 7 other windows may have different option in menu File.Ckeckout  which option you have and do it.

Method 2:

Using this method file or folder both get protected.For  this method winrar software is required or any rar file making software.

If the software is installed in your computer then follows below steps:

Step 1: Go to the folder and right click on that.

Step 2:click on the add to archieve.

Step 3: Select advanced tap and click on set password.

Step 4: Type the password and click ok.

Note:  In this method copy of the document is created so,Delete the actual file and keep copy.The rar file of the document get created in this.Image given below
